Admiral Baker Clubhouse - Wedding CakeThis evening’s wedding was held at the Admiral Baker Clubhouse and golf course. I started off with providing the ceremony music and microphones outside on the patio. After the ceremony guests moved to the other end of the patio for the cocktail hour with a great view of the golf course. Once inside the ballroom I projected a slide show that they created. It was a nice way to start off the reception. I then announced our newly married couple into the room. They went to their sweetheart table and I invited their best man and maid of honor up to start off the toasts. After the meal dancing began with their first dance to: “Bless The Broken Road” – Rascal Flatts. We cut the cake after about 45 minutes of solid dancing. They had one of the most unique cake knife and server sets I have seen yet. It was an organic shaped set by Nambé and can be seen in the picture below. Tonight was another amazing night on the dance floor. Sometimes a Sunday night wedding will not have the same type of party atmosphere as a Saturday night wedding. This definitely was not the case with this group. They kept it going until 10pm ending time. They had a blast singing along with the last dance song our couple picked out: “Bohemian Rhapsody” – Queen. It was one of the best “last dances” I’ve seen at a wedding.

MOCA Wedding CakeThe Museum of Contemporary Art La Jolla is always one of my favorite places to work at mainly because it is an interesting space and I have always been into modern art (not to mention the lighting possibilities!) We had the ceremony outside on the patio with my favorite Minister Jerry Bryant this evening. Cocktail hour was held downstairs in the Coast Room. Guests then moved upstairs for the reception where Guiseppe Catering was busy with three excellent food stations. It was perfect timing because it was just getting dark and all the uplighting that I had done in the room was beginning to come to life. Look at the before and after pictures below to really get a great idea of what lighting can do for any reception space! They had a cool lounge area back by the artwork that Haydee from Concepts Event Design provided. John from Aquario Studio Photography documented the evening on film. I am interested to get some of his photos of the lighting in the room since my small camera doesn’t really do these photos justice. Organic Elements did some minimal floral centerpieces that fit well in the modern space. We kicked off dancing with a slightly older music set to make sure all of the family members and family friends were happy. Once we cut the cake a little later we kicked things into high gear. I played more current music and mostly club remixes for the rest of the night. They seemed conservative early on in the evening but got pretty wild the last hour. Excellent well rounded wedding.

Tonight I was out at the Coronado Community Center for the ceremony and reception. The ceremony was held out on the grass overlooking the San Diego Bay. Guests then moved over to the outdoor patio for cocktail hour. I had to bring tons of equipment for this wedding. The uplights looked great surrounding the outer edge of the room and the cake spotlighting really made that white cake pop out from across the room! They showed a fun slide show at the end of dinner. It takes longer to set it all up but the results look great and it really changes the entire look of the event. It was a really nice and polite group to work with this evening. They enjoyed the dancing (the groom enjoyed it most of all because he kept having to sit down for a few minutes to cool off). Here is a short video highlight from the wedding provided by Garner Films: Chad & Rilee’s Wedding Highlight Video

I first started out in Del Mar over at Seagrove Park for the ceremony. It was beautiful out on the grass near the ocean. After the ceremony I had to pack up and head out to the Rancho Bernardo Inn for the reception in the Santiago Ballroom. It was sort of a crazy drive at 5:30pm on a Friday but I made it without any problems. Cocktail hour was held out on the patio so I provided a small speaker system with some excellent background music they selected. The reception held inside the ballroom went off without any glitches. We showed two different slide shows during the first and third course of dinner. It was nice to spread them out a little. Dancing went pretty well tonight. A funny highlight moment was when the wedding party did a choreographed dance to “Thriller” from Michael Jackson. The room was a little warm so everyone ended the night outside on the patio (over at the bar). Darryn St. John shot the photography. It is always a pleasure to work with him. Victoria from Theory Weddings And Events helped coordinate the evening.
