L’Auberge Del Mar San Diego Wedding DJ 11/13/10

A perfect day for an afternoon wedding at L’Auberge Del Mar 11am to 4:00pm. The ceremony was held on the top terrace overlooking the ocean. Superior court judge Bromberg is a family friend so he stepped in as the officiant today. A funny moment happened when judge Bromberg asked the groom to present the ring. A HUGE fake diamond ring was pulled out and given to the bride. Everyone got a quick laugh out of it.

Cocktail hour was held on the middle wooden deck area. Once again a great view of the ocean! We then moved downstairs for dinner and dancing. A unique wedding idea & San Diego wedding trend the last few years has been the candy bar. This trend is not going away anytime soon. Guests (of all ages) love it!

Dancing went well extremely well for a daytime wedding. The group let loose and enjoyed the afternoon.

I love the Museum Of Contemporary Art La Jolla as a San Diego wedding venue location for a few reasons. Mostly because of the unique space, always interesting art (even though I graduated with a degree in biology/chemistry I took art all through college and consider art one of my main gifts/talents in life), and that I am only a few miles away so it makes for a short drive!

Today’s wedding consisted of a three different areas to set equipment and lighting up in. I first provided a battery powered speaker for the ceremony down at “The Wedding Bowl” (no electricity) which is located on the grass overlooking the cliffs and ocean. Amazing views! We had a violinist who played along with my music. She also played the violin at the bride’s parent’s wedding many years ago so it was a personal moment for everyone.

Guests then moved to the Coast Room and Miles Terrace where I had a small set of equipment for music and 5 uplights to add some color and light once the sun went down. After cocktail hour guests went upstairs to the Axline Court for the reception. The couple’s unique wedding theme and inspiration tonight was “Indonesian spice” so there were lots of earthy colors, small woven baskets as favors, wood, and candles. I provided 16 amber uplights for this space that went extremely well with the linens, candles, and artwork currently in the museum.

Dinner was served family style which many of the guests enjoyed. It seems like this is becoming a San Diego wedding trend lately as I see it more and more often. It was something a little different that you don’t see at every wedding. After all of the important dances we kicked things off with the Hora and as you can see below every guest joined in on the fun!

Dancing continued from there for the rest of the night. We took a small break for cake cutting where small (delicious) cupcakes were passed out. We played a huge assortment of dance music for the rest of the evening. The dance floor was packed and everyone had a great time (see photos below)!

It was a perfect day for an outside wedding at L’Auberge Del Mar! This afternoon we kicked things off with the ceremony on the top Pacific Terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

We were treated to an amazing sunset for during dinner and cake cutting. The bride & groom made personalized bottles of wine & cigars for each one of their guests which were fun & unique favors.

As you can see below the cigars were a big hit with the guys and made for some great photos. It was a small reception tonight with about 50 guests. Dancing went fairly well considering the size of the group. Nice and warm outside for an evening of fun!

The Bahia Resort is a San Diego wedding venue located on Mission Bay. The property has a few different ballrooms available, as well as, a few different locations for an outdoor ceremony. Tonight’s couple started off with their wedding ceremony outside by the pond. This area is tucked away in a garden and is fairly hidden from the main resort. After the ceremony guest’s headed up to the Mission Ballroom which is on the top floor of the main tower. The large windows provided excellent views of the water and the Sea World fireworks in the summer.

One unique wedding item tonight was the large map located at the entrance. The tables were all named after places the bride & groom had traveled to in the past. Each location was pinned and the guest’s names were all connected to that location. The flowers were also unique colors and extremely vibrant.

They hired me as their San Diego wedding DJ but I also provided quite a bit of lighting tonight. The lighting included 12 uplights and a custom gobo monogram projection. The projection of their names onto the wall really helped distract attention away from the fact that it is an airwall. The uplighting added warmth and interest to all of the columns in the ballroom. All of this really dressed up the room.
